TheCowboys took the opening game of Sunday's double header with the Diablos in dramatic walkoff fashion and Noah Piard won the clos

ing game single handedly.

Aaron Corwin took the mound in the opener and held the Diablos scoreless through four on one hit and three walks while recording five strikeouts. David Gates, on in relief of Corwin, set the Diablos down 1-2-3 in the fifth.
In the sixth, Andrew Shoemaker, the third Cowboy pitcher gave up a single to Yermin Mercedes and a two run home run to Corben Green as Douglas retook the lead 2-1.

In the bottom of the seventh the Cowboys got the bats going. Tyler Heck led off with a single and Brian Millimen was hit by a pitch. Austin Prott singled and Heck scored on an error by Malguiel Brito in center. The score was now tied 2-2. Riley Smith was intentionally walked to load the bases. Casanova Donaldson, who had replaced Tim Henry in the fifth, came to the plate needing only a sac fly to win the game. Instead he crushed a pitch by Larry Rodriguez over the wall in left for a walk off grand slam home run. The final score was 6-2 Cowboys.

Scotty Hong picked up the win in relief. The four Cowboy pitchers in the game scattered four hits while striking out six.

Austin Prott went 3 for 3 with a run scored and got half of the Cowboy hits. Casanova Donaldson was 1 for 2 with the home run and 4 RBIs.

The second game belonged to Noah Piard. He tossed a complete game one hitter, striking out seven Diablos and driving in the only two runs for the Cowboys.

Piard's lone hit given up was a solo home run to Corben Green in the first. After the home run he set down 20 Diablos in a row. Piard faced one batter over the minimum for the seven inning game. Piard got 11 ground ball outs, struck out seven and only allowed three fly balls to the outfield. Quite an impressive game by the young man from Florida.

The Cowboy bats were held in check until the bottom of the sixth. Although they put runners in scoring position in the first, second, fourth and fifth they were unable to push across a run.

Riley Smith singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Smith reached second on a single by Matt Henrickson and promptly stole third. After Billy Crowe flied to center Noah Piard rapped a double to left center that scored Smith and Henrickson and the Cowboys took the 2-1 lead.

Piard set the Diablos down 1-2-3 in the seventh with two strikeouts to ice the cake on his outstanding performance.

With the sweep, the Cowboys move to 17-5 on the year. The Roswell Invaders lost to the Raton Osos to drop to 13-6 overall, 2 1/2 games behind the Cowboys.

The Cowboys take on the Santa Fe Fuego in Sante Fe on Wednesday for four games in three days including a double header on Thursday and then travel to Roswell to take on the Invaders for four games starting next Saturday the 7th of June. The Cowboys and the Invaders then travel to Alpine for four more games on the 12th, 13th and a double header on the 14th of June.
