City manager Erik Zimmer has resigned, unexpectedly. Zimmer was hired in 2013, as city manager, replacing acting city manager Molly Taylor. He offered his resignation before the special meeting of the city council on Tuesday.

These are the public servants who have resigned, or that we have lost, since the indictment of Ricky Chavez and the firing of Chuy Garcia: Utility Director Cindy Holander; Finance Director Deborah Pattison; City Attorney John Armstrong; City Attorney Bob Steele; Municipal Judge Rebecca Schlosser, Councilman Michael Casteli and  City Manager Charles  Harrington.  Most of these resignations occurred after the public official exposed some level of corruption. The City of Alpine is still under investigation by the FBI.

Besides Chavez, the city council has yet to take any action against employees who paid back loans or stole money.

Councilman Jim Fitzgerald was devastated when he heard the news of Zimmer's resignation. "We finally got someone in there who could turn the city around."
